ICCI to apply SPS-11-2.0 General Purpose, two component, rigid,
polyurethane floatation foam to two of the four flex floats
underneath the entry way to the casino. This job required us to
add a Reactor / Fusion Rig for foam application to our equipment
inventory which greatly increased our capabilities to complete
future projects of this sort. The foam application is designed to
provide greater buoyancy, keep water out, and provide erosion
protection of the steel. We cut three holes in the barge to pump
in the foam and provide ventilation. Careful application was
extremely critical due to the high heat generated from the
chemical reaction of the foam. Too much foam at one time would
cause a combustible fire hazard. After the application of foam,
the holes were patched, primed and painted.
