This barge is unique in it's end use. The surface preparation and coating involved a specially designed, very detailed and force cured tank lining that was suitable for food transportation. The barge is a multiple tank, ocean-going container barge. The interior was completely blasted and painted while floating in the water. The problem with this scenario was that the lining had to be force cured due to the varying temperatures of the steel due to the water's cooling effect, combined with environmental issues performing these task over the water. But, as stated before, the unique part of this project was it's end use, concentrated Coke Syrup made by Coca Cola Bottling in the United States and shipped to South America for carbonating and selling abroad.
