Abrasive blasting and coating of 14 ground storage tanks, associated sumps, chemical storage area and piping, totaling over a 1,000,000 square feet of surface area, kept ICCI busy for nearly all of 2009. The specifications required SSPC QP1 Contractor Certification. The interior of all tanks required SSPC SP-10 “Near White Blast” with a 30-40 mil 100% High Solids coating. The exterior of all tanks required SSPC SP-10 “Near White Blast” and coating with an Inorganic Zinc, High Build Epoxy and Urethane system. 100% containment was essential in maintaining a safe and controlled atmosphere. Logging approximately 150,000 man-hours, ICCI operated on a very restricted schedule and completed this project within the client’s specified schedule and budget with zero lost time injury’s or incidents.
