The rehabilitation
of four massive sheds located at the Port in Gulfport involved the
addition off the most modern technology known to man within the
fruit handling industry in conjunction with completely being
repainted. All the sheds contained lead based coatings that had to
be encapsulated prior to new coatings. The encapsulating of 500,000
square feet of steel was accomplished without negative environmental
and without violation of any State Local or Federal regulations.
Being located on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico added to the
difficulty of preventing environmental contamination. After
encapsulation, the steel was coated with an Epoxy/Urethane system
within budget and one month quicker than originally scheduled.
