The
Palace in Biloxi MS has added a 50-foot by 300-foot long barge to
the south side of the existing barge. It will be called “The
Sports Zone” and has over (50) big screen plasma TVs and one that
is 15-foot by 30-foot at the middle of the barge. There will be over
500 new slot machines throughout the gaming floor. The south wall
has an 11- foot by 107-foot mural of the University of Southern
Mississippi football field digitally applied to the vinyl wall
covering that came in (6) 30 yard rolls. The walls and soffits
around the perimeter of the barge received a metallic scuff master
coating. The main entrance and three pony walls received a wood
veneer wallpaper that came in 36- inch wide rolls and had 6-inch
squares of wood glued side by side on the paper backing. The
floor of the barge has a rubber mat that is glued down 6-foot out
from the outer wall and runs all the way around the barge. The
architect had us put (3) 4-inch strips of polyurethane 1-foot by
9-foot from the carpet’s edge. We used masking tape to layout the
lines, over 2800 linear feet. It was difficult to layout and paint
the strips with so many different trades working on the barge at the
same time, but we pulled it off and they came out great. They
built new walking piers on the north and east sides of the barge
connecting them to the existing fishing bridge. We also painted the
handrails with Palace Gold and the dry standpipe red for the Fire
Department. The
Grand opening was Super Bowl Sunday 2004.
