The Discoverer Enterprise is a state of the art drilling vessel. Equipped with a 300 feet high fully computer operated drilling derrick, this vessel was completed in various stages at different facilities across the South, with the final completion 80 miles off shore. ICCI's scope consisted of flame spray metalizing using 99.9% pure Zinc. This process was only installed on the derrick during pre-construction. After assembly and installation, the erection damage was repaired. The highest elevation of work for ICCI was 300 feet above the vessel's deck. Blasting with garnet and Metalizing at such elevations posed a new set of obstacles that were overcome and the project completed as designed.
